Editorial & Source Selection Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Source Selection Criteria

CSG selects sources for comparison based on: relevance to the topic, editorial reach and influence, diversity of perspective, and representation of both mainstream and independent media. We aim to include a minimum of two sources per comparison, representing meaningfully different editorial approaches.

Topic Selection

We prioritize topics that: are of significant public interest, receive meaningfully different coverage across sources, benefit from comparative analysis, and span our coverage categories (politics, health, technology, climate, international affairs, and economy).

Editorial Independence

CSG's editorial decisions are made independently of advertisers, political organizations, media outlets we cover, and any external entity. No source can pay for inclusion, exclusion, or favorable treatment in our comparisons.

Corrections Policy

When we identify errors in our comparisons — whether in source summaries, classifications, or analysis — we publish corrections prominently and note the date and nature of the correction. We encourage readers to report potential errors to [email protected].

Leaning Classifications

Our editorial leaning classifications (e.g., Center-Left, Center-Right, Libertarian) are based on analysis of editorial patterns over time, not individual stories. These classifications are displayed with identical styling regardless of position — we do not use color-coding that could imply value judgments about editorial orientations.
